MP: Give voters their say

Yesterday MPs voted once more on whether there should be an early General Election. In the vote last Wednesday, the number of MPs supporting an early General Election did not pass the required two-thirds threshold – with the vast majority of Labour MPs abstaining and 28 Labour MPs and Liberal Democrat MPs voting against. John Baron MP voted for an early General Election, and did so again this evening. Once again, the vote last night did not meet the required threshold with many opposition MPs abstaining.

John said,

“After several years, during which this Parliament has proved itself unable to reconcile itself to a Brexit conclusion, it is high time for an early General Election. I hope a new Parliament will get behind Boris Johnson as Prime Minister, and enable him to break through the Parliamentary deadlock and get Brexit done.”

“In recent months Labour and other opposition MPs have been constantly calling for a General Election, and it is strange that given an opportunity to support just such a move, they are now voting against it.”

“I am confident that voters find this as baffling as I do, and urge opposition MPs to have the courage of their convictions and give the people their say.”
