MP is shown how the new teams operate in the town centre
John Baron MP was invited to meet the new Basildon local policing team in the town centre. John was met by Sergeant Paul Hogben and his team. The new teams consist of 58 PCs and 12 Sergeants who will work alongside the existing community policing teams. The team will increase visible police presence in the town centres and around the night time economy. The increase in officer numbers has been possible as a result of the extra funding secured through the policing report which had John’s full support.
The new teams will focus on tackling community concerns such as drug dealing and antisocial behaviour as well as supporting local bars and clubs in reducing crime.

“It was a pleasure joining the police whilst on duty in the town centre and to see the excellent work they do and the rapport they have with local residents. My thanks go to Sergeant Paul Hogben and his team. We have promised to keep in touch.”
Sergeant Paul Hogben said:
“It was really good to have the opportunity to show Mr Baron around the Town Centre, discuss the tactics the team are using to tackle issues and for him to see first-hand the positive impact we have already had. It was also reassuring to feel supported by someone of his position and I look forward to working with Mr Baron in the future.”
