MP looking forward to discussions ahead of Lords stages
John Baron MP’s amendment New Clause 19 to the Health & Care Bill, which will help to improve cancer survival rates by encouraging the NHS to diagnose cancer earlier, was accepted by the Government as the legislation completed its Commons stages. As a result of the Government’s adoption of the amendment, no vote on it was necessary.
John said,
“I am delighted that the Government accepted NC19, which will make a real difference to improving cancer survival rates by boosting earlier diagnosis. I look forward to discussions with Ministers ahead of the Bill’s stages in the House of Lords – we will be working together on this.”
“I would very much like to thank the 80 MPs of all parties who supported NC19, and those outside Parliament who also lent their support. Today is a good day for cancer patients and their families.”
