MP: 13,576 extra Police Officers recruited nationwide
Recently released figures show that 332 Police officers have been recruited in Essex since September 2019, bringing the force’s full strength up to 3,648 officers. These efforts form part of the Conservatives’ election pledge to recruit 20,000 new Police officers across the country by March 2023, of which 13,576 (68%) have so far been recruited. More than four in ten new recruits since April 2020 are women, and nearly 12% of new recruits identify as belonging to a Black, Asian, Mixed or other ethnic minority group.
John said,
“I welcome the excellent news that the Police recruitment campaign is progressing well, with 68% of the promised 20,000 officers having already been recruited. The extra 332 officers for Essex Police will help keep our streets and communities safe, bear down on crime and provide important reassurance to the public.”
“As ever, I would like to thank Essex Police in particular for their excellent work on behalf of the community. They have my full support.”
