MP sits on Q&A panel and supports need for change

Today at the Holiday Inn, Basildon, there was an Education Summit which looked at how to improve the quality of education across the town.   The event particularly looked at the quality across primary schools.  Headteachers, teachers and governors from across the town were present, as were many Councillors including County Councillor Stephen Castle [Cabinet Member for Education] and Councillor Tony Ball [Leader of Basildon Council].  Stephen Metcalfe MP chaired the event. Representatives from  Essex County Council’s Education and Learning Department were also present.

John said:

“We need to see a significant step change in the quality of education in Basildon.  The status quo is not an option – parents are rightly concerned. This unique summit is a starting point to explore what we can do together to raise standards and thereby help the life chances of children in the town.  We will now follow this through.”
