MP says unemployment is a social evil

John Baron MP has welcomed new figures showing that 601 fewer people in Basildon and Billericay are relying on Jobseeker’s Allowance since 2010, a 30% drop. More people are getting off benefits and into work across the South East, with 254,000 more people in work since the last election.

John said,

“It’s excellent news that since 2010 there are 601 fewer people relying on Jobseeker’s Allowance in Basildon and Billericay. Local unemployment has now fallen to 3.2% – well below the national average. That means many more local people with a better and brighter future ahead of them and their families.”

“Unemployment is a social evil, which we must try to minimise, if not eradicate. There is still some way to go, but we are heading in the right direction.”
