MP supports Brexit to allow freedom to choose

Today representatives from ‘Vote Leave’ have suggested that leaving the EU would allow the British Government the freedom to choose its own immigration policy – something John Baron MP has long supported. Currently, under EU ‘freedom of movement’ rules, the UK can not control immigration from other EU member states, whilst subjecting non-EU citizens to an increasingly onerous application process before they gain the ability to live and work in the UK.

John said,

“Our present immigration system discriminates against immigrants from outside the EU – this is unfair and difficult to defend. It also means the UK can not draw on the talent of the world. Only by exiting the EU can we consider a fairer process, such as an Australian-style points-based system.”
