MP stresses importance of organ donor register
John Baron MP has joined Transplant 2013 in their call for people to join the organ donor register and discuss their wishes with their family members. There is a vast regional difference in organ donation and transplantation rates. Transplant 2013, a coalition of patients, clinicians and industry, are calling for more people to register their intent regarding organ donation.
John said:
“Although transplantation rates in the East of England are on the increase, more still needs to be done. On average three people on the waiting list die every day because they do not receive an organ transplant in time, and so your action can really mean the difference between life and death for someone awaiting a transplant.”
“I would therefore encourage people to call 0300 123 23 23 to join the organ donor register. It is also advisable to ensure that they discuss their wishes with family members.”
