MP says Parliament has made clear its views against military action
This morning the media reported that British RAF personnel had been involved in military strikes against Daesh in Syria, despite Parliament making clear its view on multiple occasions that there should be no British involvement in military action in Syria. The RAF personnel were ‘embedded’ inside the US Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force and possibly other friendly air forces, as part of longstanding exchange programmes. When foreign personnel are on such exchanges, they are under the full command of their host country.
John said,
“The Government has promised there would be no British involvement in military action in Syria unless approved by Parliament, yet British personnel have been involved. This is more cock-up than conspiracy, but questions must be answered. The Government needs to come to Parliament on Monday to explain the situation.”
