MP says Parliamentarians will continue to scrutinise the Government
Last night the Prime Minister’s motion was passed by MPs, who supported it by 397 votes to 223. On an earlier vote, an amendment tabled by John Baron MP and representatives from five other parties [see below] was defeated by 390 votes to 211.
John said,
“I am obviously disappointed with the outcome of the vote as, without a realistic long-term strategy and better local knowledge, there are real concerns that we risk repeating our previous errors when intervening in Iraq, Helmand and Libya. Many MPs who supported the Government’s case did so with reservations, and will continue to scrutinise policy with Syria as the issue unfolds.”
