John Baron MP has visited Sunnymede Junior School, Billericay, after being invited to speak to the year six students about his role in Parliament by Year 6 teachers, Emma Bicheno and Laura Maclean. John answered a range questions put to him by the children.
John said:
“It was great to visit the school and catch up with progress. The Year Six students were very enthusiastic and asked a wide range of questions, including why I had voted against the UK’s bombing in Syria. We finished with ‘high fives’ and a promise to do it again.”
Emma Bicheno [Year 6 teacher, Sunnymede Junior School] said:
“The children were so excited about meeting a real MP, they had learnt so much about the role of parliament and it was lovely for them to find out real information, including how comfortable the benches are in the House of Commons and what Mr Baron felt about the SATs tests. Mr Baron was very open and honest with the children and made them realise how hard work can really pay off. The children thought Mr Baron was really interesting to talk to and were every impressed with his answers and his determination to stick to his principles. It was a truly worthwhile experience.”
