MP says consistency of objective would help our cause
President Trump has indicated there will be consequences following last weekend’s gas attack in Syria, in which at least 42 people are believed to have died. There is speculation that the British Government might join in with possible American military action.
John said,
“Without any clarity as to the US’ intentions, I would advise caution in any intervention, especially given the possible proximity of Russian personnel.”
“The Prime Minister has the latitude to make decisions in these situations. However, any substantial military commitment should be approved by Parliament.”
“Meanwhile, consistency of objective might help our cause. President Trump’s suggestion last week that the American involvement in Syria would end might have sent the wrong message to Damascus and Moscow.”
