MP says codeword scheme will help victims
From today victims of domestic abuse will be able to access support from thousands of pharmacies across the UK by using a new codeword scheme. Independent pharmacies and Boots are introducing the ‘Ask for Ani’ scheme, which doubles as the codeword victims can use to seek immediate support, discretely and safely. When hearing this codeword, a trained pharmacy worker will take the victim to a private space to talk to them about accessing support or help from the Police.

“I welcome this new codeword initiative, which will help victims of domestic abuse seek help and support in a discrete and safe way. I also congratulate the many pharmacies which have signed up to the scheme – without their cooperation it would not be possible.”
