MP: Government must keep public safe
Yesterday John Baron MP voted in support of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill during its Report Stage and Third Reading.
John said,
“This Bill follows through on the Government’s undertaking to come down hard on criminals and keep the British public safe. The Bill backs the Police, introduces tougher sentences for the worst offenders and brings in needed modernisations in the courts and tribunal processes.”
“The Bill also makes some sensible and reasonable additions to Police powers to address the problem of unauthorised encampments as well as the various novel forms of protest which can cause serious and persistent disruption. The freedom to protest is a bedrock principle of our free society, but this freedom is not unlimited and it is reasonable for the Government to take steps to ensure people and businesses can still go about their daily lives.”
