MP says Trust’s work is more important than ever
This morning John Baron MP gave the closing address at the Veolia Pitsea Marshes Trust Partnership Celebration. The Trust has co-funded a range of community projects over the last 13 years. John was invited to give the address given that for most of the 13 years of the Trust’s existence virtually all of the landfill site was in his constituency. The event was held at the Benfleet Methodist Church, 67 High Road, Benfleet.
John said:
“The work of the Trust is more important than ever. The economic climate means that its role is crucial in providing the seed funding which then releases additional funding from third parties and project owners. Without it, many wonderful community projects would not have succeeded.”
“For example, because of the Trust we have had great projects supported at Felmore Primary School, Norsey Wood, Little Burstead Village Hall and Lake Meadows. Over the last 13 years, the Trust has supported 93 local projects and provided £3.7 million which has facilitated an additional £37 million funding.”
“Our thanks go to all those at the Trust who have made this possible. The Trust’s local knowledge has been a great asset to the local community.”
