MP says New Holland is a local and national manufacturing jewel
Today John Baron MP and Mr Carlo Lambro (Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Fiat Europe) officially opened the new Customer Centre of the New Holland manufacturing plant, Basildon. This involved a presentation to key industry figures, dealers, company executives and work force. John spoke at the presentation and then officially unveiled the plaque. He and Carlo were joined by Mr Andrew Watson (Managing Director, New Holland UK) and Colin Larkin (Plant Manager).
John said:
“This excellent facility showcases the history and achievements of New Holland and presents this world class manufacturing plant to the world. We are very proud of the fact that we have here a market beating manufacturing capability. This is important to both the local economy and the country.”
“This plant employs 1,000 people and exports over 90% of its production to 120 countries. It has built over 1.6 million tractors. Basildon made products supply 60% of the entire European industry. We take great pride in its achievements.”
“In these difficult economic times, growing our manufacturing base in order to rebalance the economy is going to be very important. This New Holland plant is showing the way. It will be creating new jobs next year.”
