MP thanks charities for their efforts
An important part of the Government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic has been the £750 million funding package to support the voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors and to help them continue their vital work during these difficult times. This scheme is one of the most generous in the world and by far the most generous in Europe for the charity sector. Ten charities in Basildon & Billericay have so far received a combined £312,582 – please see ‘notes to editors’ below for more details.
John said,
“There are very few areas which have not been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and the charity sector is no exception. In particular, the coronavirus has halted many of their usual fundraising activities, which is why it is right that the Government has stepped in to support this sector as it helps our communities through these difficult times. I am pleased charities in our area have been able to benefit from these funds, and would like to thank all charities in our area for their important efforts.”
