MP encourages constituents to phone helpline

John Baron MP has today called for greater transparency with regard to doorstep selling. Whilst most doorstep traders are legitimate, some are not and have taken advantage of householders trying to make savings. People who are mis-sold do have rights. For example, if someone spends more than £35 on a doorstep offer, they have seven days in which they can change their mind and receive a full refund.

John said:

“Doorstep mis-selling is a growing concern. Organised confusion, pressured selling, and the distribution of misleading information are all tactics utilised by rogue traders. I encourage all those who are approached on the doorstep to exercise caution.”

“Anyone with concerns about rogue traders should call the Office of Fair Trading’s Consumer Department on 08454 040 506”
