MP takes questions from Key Stage 2 members of School Council
This week in Parliament, John Baron MP met with a group of 8 Key Stage 2 students from St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, Billericay. The students had been on a specially designed tour which was followed by an interactive workshop where the students had the chance to explore a particular aspect of Parliament’s work. John Baron MP was invited to meet the students after their workshop for a Q & A session. The visit was organised by Parliament’s Education Service. The attached photograph shows John with the students.
John said:
“It was good to meet the students in Parliament. They asked some good questions which showed they were clearly interested in politics and had enjoyed their visit.”
Angela Moreton [Assistant Headteacher, St Peter’s Catholic Primary School] said:
“Our School Council visit to Westminster has become an annual trip, and as well as being very enjoyable, it is also a very informative day. The children were delighted that John Baron MP had taken the time to meet them, and were ready with their questions, from university tuition fees, to who should be allowed to vote in a possible referendum on Scottish independence. The visit really helped the children to understand how a democracy works, and they returned to school with renewed determination to ensure that everyone’s voice should be heard.”
