Parliament to debate summit tomorrow

Today in the House of Commons, John Baron MP was one of the 40 MPs needed to ensure that a technical procedure called Standing Order 24 was accepted in the House of Commons. Having been accepted by the Speaker, the presence of more than 40 Members supporting the S.O. 24 application meant that the Government has been forced to hold a three-hour emergency debate tomorrow on its position prior to the European summit starting on Thursday.

John said,

“When the Prime Minister rightly exercised the veto in December, we were told EU institutions could not be used by the Eurozone. This is the right position. It now seems there is ambiguity as to the Government’s position. The debate will help clarify the situation.”
