John Baron MP today opened the Heritage Lottery Fund [HLF] workshop at the Billericay Reading Rooms, High Street, Billericay. John suggested the workshop as a means of offering information and advice about HLF funding and an opportunity to learn more about what the HLF does. The informal event was a way for people to meet with HLF to share their ideas and encourage them to apply for grants. The workshop included a PowerPoint presentation which showed examples of local projects, including the Cater Museum.

At the workshop, John met with Roy Swanston (Committee Member) and Suzie Spence (Development Officer) who offered advice to participants. Chris Brewster, (Curator, Cater Museum, Billericay) and Sylvia Kent (Trustee) kindly supplied refreshments for the event.

John said:

“We are very lucky locally to have such a rich history and heritage. Yet we are not as successful as some others when it comes to Lottery funding. I suggested this HLF workshop as a way of helping to put this right.”

“My thanks go to the HLF team for the workshop, and to Chris Brewster and Sylvia Kent for all their help with the organization and refreshments. I hope residents now submit more funding applications as a result.”
