John Baron MP: 2012 Fun Walk to be renamed ‘Jubilee Walk’ in honour of HM The Queen’s 60 years on the Throne

MP reflects on 10 years progress since the first Fun Walk commemorated the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002

 John Baron MP today confirmed that the 2012 Fun Walk will be renamed the ‘Jubilee Walk’ in honour of the Queen’s 60 years of dedicated service to this country and the Commonwealth. The very first Fun Walk in 2002 commemorated the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. John also confirmed the latest details of the Jubilee Walk which now looks set to smash all records, with 110 charities set to benefit. The Walk is set for Sunday 27th May, at Barleylands Farm – a factsheet is attached.

 John said:

 “The Queen has given 60 years of dedicated service to this country whilst on the Throne. In her honour, we are renaming this year’s Fun Walk the ‘Jubilee Walk’.”

 “It is worth reflecting that the very first Fun Walk in 2002 commemorated the Queen’s Golden Jubilee with 6 charities participating. This year, 110 charities and good causes are set to benefit.”

 “The bonus pot now exceeds £42,000 which breaks all records.
