Call for evidence on regulation enforcement

John Baron MP believes one of the Government’s key priorities should be to reduce the overall burden of regulation especially for small business to encourage business, growth and employment. John has been critical particularly of EU regulation. As part of a Government initiative to reduce regulation, the ‘Focus on Enforcement’ campaign is a call for evidence from businesses and members of the public. The campaign is looking for examples of both good and bad enforcement practice to enable the Government to share good practice and highlight areas which are in need of reform. Inconsistent or inappropriate enforcement of existing regulation costs businesses time and money, damaging growth and prospects for greater employment.

John said,

“There is far too much unnecessary business regulation, much of it from the EU, which gums up the cogs of the economy and is a brake on growth. This needs to change. Such red-tape particularly hurts small businesses.”

“This new campaign is a welcome initiative to reduce the inconsistencies in enforcement of regulation, and I encourage as many as possible to respond.”
