MP sees runners and Striders set off from Billericay Train Station
John Baron MP today greeted Billericay Striders and participating schools at Billericay Train Station as part of an Olympic Torch relay event. John congratulated all concerned in what has been an excellent initiative. The event began at Downham Primary School, finishing at Sunnymede Infant School, Billericay. Each school was represented by a strider carrying a torch made by their school and wearing a polo shirt representing each school taking part. The schools have planned activities for the day following the relay event.
John said:
“Congratulations to the Billericay Striders for this initiative, and to all the schools which took part. Enthusing the kids with the Olympic atmosphere has been a great success. There were lots of smiling faces today, despite the weather!”
