MP pledges support for children and young people with cancer
John Baron MP recently pledged his support for children and young people with cancer by sponsoring CLIC Sargent’s Parliamentary reception in the House of Commons. He committed to support CLIC Sargent’s vital work by signing a pledge along with other parliamentarians.
John said:
“Cancer remains the single largest cause of death from disease in children, with ten families every day being told that their child has cancer. This comes as a real shock to the families concerned.
“It is therefore vital that we support the work that CLIC Sargent does to support children and young people with cancer and their families across the UK. They do a fantastic job of providing much-needed support in very difficult times.”
Lorraine Clifton, CLIC Sargent’s Chief Executive, said:
“Given that John is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer, we are delighted that he was able to sponsor, attend and pledge his support for the work that we do. This was a fantastic opportunity for the young people we support to speak directly to MPs and Lords about their experiences.”

Every day 10 families in the UK are told that their child has cancer. Diagnosis often comes as a shock and treatment usually starts straightaway and can last up to three years.
Although survival rates are over 70%, cancer remains the single largest cause of death from disease in children in the UK.
As the leading children and young people’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent is there with clinical, practical and emotional support, every step of the way.
