MP raises constituents and FOI concerns

John Baron MP has attended several meetings in Parliament with East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS) about poor statistics for waiting times in the East of England – particularly Essex. Along with other MPs, John has also met with the CQC – the regulator for health and social care in England.

The CQC has recently published their report investigating the service of EEAS. The report details the Trust has passed on four counts including cleanliness and infection control, but failed on the care and welfare of people who use the service. They are the first Trust to fail.

Welfare of people who have used the service has been graded as “non-compliance” at a moderate level, the CQC describes this rating as –“people who use the service experienced poor care that had a significant effect on their health, safety or welfare or there was a risk of this happening. The matter may need to be resolved quickly.”

John said:

“I have raised with the CQC and the Ambulance Service in both meetings and correspondence my concerns about the level of service for my constituents. A recent FOI request and the CQC report published today highlights many of these concerns.”

“Looking forward my hope is that this report will act as a catalyst for change in the Trust. I will continue to press the Trust and indeed the CQC until the service improves to acceptable standards.”
