MP congratulates all involved in its successful past.

John Baron MP has had it confirmed by the Charity Commission that the Fun Walk’s application for charitable status has been accepted. The registered charity will be known as ‘The Fun Walk Trust’ and its number is 1151626. The good news has come in time for the next Fun Walk on 19th May – contact details below.

John said:

“This is excellent news which recognises the Fun Walk’s progress over the years. Being a registered charity will allow those companies who can only give to charities to support us in future.”

“My thanks go to all those who have helped to make this walk such a success. The Fun Walk Committee, our family of volunteers, Barleylands Farm, and the Bonus Pot sponsors – both past and present – have all been instrumental in its success. Many projects and people have benefitted as a result. I am also grateful to the Trustees of the new charity. I look forward to us all working together.”

“This year our Bonus Pot sponsors have so far donated over £40,000 for the walk on 19th May. Our thanks go to Swan Housing Association, NYSE Euronext, c2c Rail Ltd, Veolia Environmental Services, Hallmark Care Homes, Toomey Motors, Bellway Homes, Selex ES Ltd, IFE Global Logistics, Mr Barrie Stone, and others. Once again, we look set to break all records.”

“My ambition for this walk knows no bounds. It fuses two key strengths of our local communities – entrepreneurial spirit and charitable ethos. My hope is that one day a member of the Royal Family will officially open the walk.”
