MP thanks the family of volunteers, bonus pot sponsors and Barleylands
Yesterday at Barleylands Farm the annual Fun Walk took place as usual on the Sunday prior to the Bank Holiday weekend. Nearly 900 walkers took part over two walks – the longer taking in the public footpath around Crays Hill, whilst the shorter involved a walk around Barleylands Farm. There was also a barn full of stalls – the objective being to raise awareness as well as money. Gateway FM joined the Walk for a live broadcast, and a number of Councillors also helped with logistics. The Billericay Town Cryer, Mr Jim Shrubb led the Walk off.
Prior to the start of the Walk there was a photo shoot involving local press with a number of the bonus pot sponsors who have this year in total contributed around £45,000 to the Walk.

“We had a great day. A barn full of stalls, more walkers than ever before, a fantastic BBQ, medals, certificates and even sunshine! My thanks go to our family of volunteers, the bonus pot sponsors, the marshalls, police and Barleylands farm for all their help and support. It was a fantastic team effort which was rewarded by a generous public. Over 100 charities and projects have benefitted as a result.”
“I would also like to highlight the generosity of our bonus pot sponsors. Our thanks go to Swan Housing Association, NYSE Euronext, c2c Rail Ltd, Veolia Environmental Services, Hallmark Care Homes, Toomey Motors, Bellway Homes, Barratt Homes, Selex ES Ltd, IFE Global Logistics, Mr Barrie Stone, and others.”
