MP supports Heritage Lottery Fund community initiative

From the beginning of June, the Heritage Lottery Fund is launching a £6m small grants programme to assist communities across the UK in their efforts to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914. Grants between £3,000 and £10,000 will be made available to enable communities to explore, conserve and share their local First World War history and deepen their understanding of the conflict and its impact. This local funding is in addition to the £10m already allocated to commemorate the First World War over the coming six years.

John said,

“The First World War was the first truly global conflict and had a profound impact on the history of the 20th Century. It is important we learn the lessons, which are still relevant today.”

“I therefore welcome this valuable project, and encourage those interested in Basildon and Billericay to take advantage of this scheme.”
