MP meets apprentices during site visit.

On Friday, John Baron MP visited the new Barrett Homes development at Acacia Park, Broadmayne. He met with David Eardley (Managing Director, Barrett Homes Eastern Counties) to see how the development is coming along. John met with three locally employed apprentices, to see some of their work and to talk through prospects. John also took the opportunity to thank Barrett Homes for their sponsorship for this year’s annual Fun Walk.

John said:

“Barrett Homes are doing a great job on behalf of local residents. The development deserves applauding. It was also good to meet with local apprentices and discuss the company’s excellent apprenticeship programme.”

“I also thanked all concerned for Barrett Home’s generous sponsorship of this year’s Fun Walk, and for participating on the day. As a bonus pot sponsor, their contribution will help over 100 local charities and projects.”

David Eardley said:

“As a local housebuilder in Basildon we are delighted to be supporting local initiatives such as the Fun Walk which will benefit so many charities in the town. As well as a company donation, our staff also all raised an additional £900 and I am sure that this will go to good use.”

“Over the last year we have employed three local apprentices in Basildon. Our commitment to hiring apprentices is driven by the fact that the construction industry needs to continue to train and nurture new talent in order to deal with future housebuilding demands. As a company, Barratt will be employing 400 apprentices and 100 trainees across the country over the next three years and as we have already seen, this will generate further employment opportunities in Basildon and Essex.”
