MP highlights growing concern over lack of clarity regarding its replacement

Today at Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons, John Baron MP questioned the Prime Minister as to the replacement for the Cancer Drugs Fund, and the need for clarity.

John asked,

“The Government deserves credit for having introduced the Cancer Drugs Fund, which has helped over 30,000 patients since 2010. However, there is growing concern about the lack of clarity regarding its replacement early next year. Will the Prime Minister look at this as a matter of urgency?”

The Prime Minister said in response that the Cancer Drugs Fund had indeed been a huge success and would consider the issue as a matter of urgency.

John said afterwards,

“This was a positive response from the Prime Minister, who deserves credit for having introduced the Fund. There is real uncertainty among cancer patients, charities and the NHS as to its replacement, particularly given the timescales. I will continue to pursue this with the Government in the coming period.”
