MP meets Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play (BOSP) to see charity’s work with Pioneer School

Yesterday afternoon John Baron MP visited the Pioneer School, Ghylgrove, Basildon to look at a session held during the summer holidays by BOSP (Brighter Opportunities through Supported Play) and to talk about the work that BOSP do to help children and young people who need support. It was a good opportunity also for John to discuss with the BOSP staff an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report which was recently given to the charity.

John said:

“BOSP do a fantastic job in helping children with complex needs and helping parents to have a break. The whole BOSP team deserve our thanks for their utmost care and expertise. This was recognised by Ofsted when giving the charity an ‘outstanding’ grade – which is a great achievement and relatively rare.”

BOSP Chairman, Sheridan Leigh said:

“This represents a fantastic recognition for everyone involved with

BOSP. We are very fortunate to have excellent Management and Staff throughout the club.  However, it would be wrong not to make special mention of our Playworkers and Supervisors, all of whom do a fantastic job with the children and young adults.”

“It is extremely rare for any club to achieve an Outstanding grade, but what makes it even better is some of the comments made by the inspectors, the following two in particular made very pleasant reading:

‘Staff demonstrate an unquestionable commitment to their roles.  They provide dedicated support to each child, supporting them to achieve and enjoy despite their special educational needs and/or disabilities.  Staff know all the children exceedingly well, and are able to respond quickly to any change in their behaviour and temperament. This enables staff to move children into other areas, such as soft play or the sensory rooms, when they show signs of stress or agitation. Therefore, children’s dignity and privacy is respected, alongside the need to ensure the safety of all the children in the scheme. This consistent approach ensures that all children’s personal, social and emotional needs are well met.’

“The Trustees and I have always been very proud to be associated with

BOSP, but this has taken that pride to a whole new level – This truly is an outstanding club and I am very excited about what the future holds”

“We are always on the lookout for people to help us shape that future, and if you have time to spare and would be interested in become a Trustee at BOSP, please contact me via the BOSP (www.bosp.co.uk <BLOCKED::http://www.bosp.co.uk> )”
