MP thanks army of volunteers and bonus pot sponsors

This evening, the Fun Walk presentation took place at which the bonus pot was distributed to the charities and projects that took part in this years’ walk at Barleylands Farm on the 19th May. This bonus is in addition to the sponsorship monies raised by the charities themselves. The total monies raised and donated in 2013 by The Fun Walk Trust was nearly £100,000, whilst the number of charities and projects benefiting this year was 110.

The Fun Walk Trust Chairman John Baron MP said:

“Raising nearly £100,000 for 110 charities and projects on a Sunday afternoon during these austere times is a phenomenal achievement. Our family of volunteers and bonus pot sponsors should be proud. Their generosity has helped many good causes both far and wide, and in the nooks and crannies of our local communities. They illustrate that Essex is second to none when it comes to initiative and generosity.”

“The bonus pot has been instrumental to the Fun Walk’s success. Our thanks go to Swan Housing Association, NYSE Euronext, c2c Rail Ltd, Veolia Environmental Services, Hallmark Care Homes, Toomey Motors, Bellway Homes, Barratt Homes, Selex ES, Ford Motor Co, IFE Global Logistics, Mr Barrie Stone, and others.”

“I would also like to pay tribute to our family of volunteers for making the Fun Walk possible, Barleylands Farm and Hallmark Care Homes for hosting the walk and reception, IFE Global Logistics for office space, and to Hunt Smee and Co for doing the accounts. It’s been a great team effort.”
