MP supports Holocaust Educational Trust project
The Fun Walk Trust is helping to subsidise two students from each local secondary school to visit Auschwitz in Poland. The visit is part of a wider project to educate students about both the Holocaust and its contemporary lessons. The project is organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust [HET], and is already being subsidised by the Trust. John has written to local secondary schools to offer the further subsidy from the Fun Walk Trust and encourage schools to take part – something the Trust has done in previous years.
John said:
“By better understanding the horrors that took place in that dark chapter of history, we can help to ensure that future generations never again allow racism or discrimination to go unchallenged. Student visits to Auschwitz are an important part of this process.”
Notes to Editors
- Through the Lessons from Auschwitz Project two post-16 students (Years 12 and 13) studying any subjects can join others from the East of England on a one-day visit to the Nazi concentration and death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau. The visit is prepared for and followed up with half day compulsory seminars that give participants the opportunity to reflect on the experience.
- For further information, please contact the Holocaust Educational Trust on 020 7222 4761 or by email at info@lfaproject.org.uk
- The subsidy is £25, which brings the cost to the student down from £59 to £34.
