MP says wide variety of issues raised
John Baron MP today addressed 6th Form students at The Billericay School, Laindon Road, Billericay. John’s annual visit to the school is a question and answer format and there were various issues covered as part of the 6th Form General Studies programme. These included Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, the EU, the Minimum Wage and the work of the Fun Walk Trust of which John is Chair. John also met with Headteacher Sue Hammond as well as students Alyssa Coker & Polly Chambers, whose visit to Auschwitz concentration camp in February is partly subsidised by the Fun Walk Trust.
John said:
“It was a broad and wide-ranging Q&A session, with the students showing keen interest and excellent awareness of many of the key issues. The school justifiably has an excellent reputation”.
“It was also good to meet Alyssa & Polly afterwards who will be soon visiting Auschwitz – their trip being partly subsidised by the Fun Walk Trust”.
Jack Farrington, Year 12 Student said:
“It was good getting an insight into the ideas and the thinking of MPs because young people can feel shut out from what is going on in the House of Commons and often only really get information from the press”.
