MP: ‘More Europe’ is the direction of travel
John Baron MP attended the address this afternoon by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. She became the third Chancellor to address both Houses of Parliament.
John said:
“Talks with Angela Merkel and other allies are needed if we want to repatriate powers back to this country. However, she made it clear the direction of travel is ‘more Europe’ – closer economic and political integration.”
“Yet Europe remains in the global slow lane when it comes to economic growth. Unemployment on the continent is far higher than it should be. We need less regulation if we are going to generate greater prosperity. The EU needs to wake up to this.”
