MP hails good news for Basildon and Billericay
This week the Office for National Statistics released the latest national and local unemployment figures. Unemployment overall has fallen by 63,000 in the three months to January 2014, with 1.3 million more people in work than in May 2010. In Basildon and Billericay, the number of unemployed benefit claimants in February 2014 was 1,856. This is 618 lower than in February 2013.
John said,
“We can not be complacent, but these figures come as welcome news. Unemployment is one of the biggest evils in society. Our economy is gradually getting back on track, but there is still further to go.”
