MP says contract retention thoroughly deserved

John Baron MP has today responded to news that c2c is retaining the Essex Thameside franchise for the next 15 years.

John said:

“c2c thoroughly deserve this extension to their franchise. Their impressive record on punctuality, their promise to compensate passengers if more than 2 minutes late, and the extra services and trains, have all combined to make theirs a compelling case. Passengers are set to benefit.”

“But c2c has also been responsive to passengers’ concerns. When I was tailgated at Basildon station and then cornered the culprit, the ticket collector could take no action. After I complained, the company put in security staff who then issued hundreds of penalties in the following weeks. c2c responded as a good company should.”
