MP congratulates Abellio Greater Anglia team

Today John Baron MP joined Jonathan Denby [Head of Corporate Affairs, Abellio Greater Anglia] and Colin MacConnachie [Head of Customer Services South East, Abellio Greater Anglia] at Billericay train Station to mark the start of the work on the additional passenger lift on the Southend bound platform.

A series of improvements including the new ticket office and improved information provision were made at Billericay station under the National Station’s Improvement Plan in 2012, and following completion of these works, Abellio Greater Anglia and John have worked together to secure funding through the government’s Access for All programme for the construction of the new lift.

A passenger lift for London-bound travellers is already provided at Billericay and completion of these latest improvements will ensure improved accessibility for rail passengers on both platforms at the station.

John said:

“It is great to see the work Abellio Greater Anglia and I have put into this coming to fruition – many passengers, including the disabled and elderly, are set to benefit from this lift. Our thanks go to the Abellio Greater Anglia team for their initiative and hard work, and to the construction company Spence.”

Colin MacConnachie, Head of Customer Services South East, Abellio Greater Anglia said:

“I am very pleased to welcome John Baron MP to mark the start of works for the additional lift at Billericay station which will greatly improve access for passengers using the Southend-bound platform.”

“Mr Baron helped to secure the necessary funding for the construction of the lift and we’re very grateful for his support.”
