MP says key questions remain unanswered

Today in the House of Commons, the Government laid out its case for air strikes against IS targets in Iraq. The vote was won by the Government 542-43. John voted against intervention.

John said,

“We always knew the result of the vote, but key questions remain unanswered which is why I voted against military action. We all know air strikes alone will not defeat IS, but there is no evidence of a co-ordinated military plan involving local ground forces. Air strikes alone could then become counter-productive.”

“Furthermore, other aspects remain a concern. In particular, the politics continues not to be right, with insufficient efforts made to reach out to alienated minorities.”
