MP welcomes Basildon Eastgate artists’ Parliamentary exhibition
John Baron MP yesterday officially opened an exhibition in Parliament put on by local artists from the Basildon Eastgate Art Gallery. Having visited the Eastgate Art Gallery last year, John was happy to support artists’ requests to display their work in Parliament. Works from local artists will be on display in the Upper Waiting Hall in the Palace of Westminster for the whole of this week.
John said:
“It was a pleasure to assist local artists in realising their dream of displaying their artwork here in Parliament. Having visited the Basildon Eastgate Art Gallery myself and seen the standard of their work, I was delighted to sponsor this exhibition. They can be very proud of their work.”
Gallery representatives said:
“Although we are only invited for one week in January, we find this an exceptional place to display our work and all the artists feel it will look good on their curriculum vitae’s, to say ‘we have exhibited at the House of Commons’.
Ian Clark, General Manager of the Eastgate Centre said:
“Eastgate has been a proud supporter of the Basildon arts industry for many years. We are therefore delighted to learn of this news, which is a great achievement for the town, a tribute to the talent that exists here and something with which our shopping centre is honoured to be associated.”
