MP says better co-ordination required to defeat Daesh
Today in the House of Commons the Prime Minister, Rt Hon David Cameron MP, gave a statement following the terrorist attacks in Tunisia.
In the House of Commons, John asked,
“Co-ordination, such as it has been, to combat Daesh has primarily focused on the military. We have failed so far to significantly disrupt their business activities, their prominence on social media, and their financial flows from powerful individuals and organisations from friendly neighbouring states. What concrete steps can the Prime Minister share with the House that will now start to put this right in these other areas?”
The Prime Minister responded that international action has removed social media posts and videos glorifying Daesh, and that terrorist plots in Britain have been disrupted.
Afterwards, John said,
“Whilst recognising that progress has been made in certain areas, we need to redouble our efforts in combating Daesh on every front, including the ideological battle, if we are going to prevail over this terrorist organisation. We need better coordination between like-minded nations.”
