MP thanks ‘Family of volunteers’, walkers and sponsors

Yesterday, the annual Fun Walk took place as usual at Barleylands Farm. Over 120 charities and good causes have benefitted from this year’s walk. Over 2,000 people attended the event which included a massive BBQ courtesy of ‘Team Handsome’, music from Gateway 97.8, other refreshments, and a field full of Charity stalls – the purpose being to raise awareness as well as money.

Because of its growing popularity, for the first time the event was staged in a field close to the car park and start of the walk. Just prior to the start of the walk, John addressed everyone to thank the volunteers, walkers and bonus pot sponsors.

John, as Chairman of The Fun Walk Trust, said:

“This year’s walk is a phenomenal success with a record number of good causes benefitting. My thanks go to our family of volunteers, the walkers and to Barleylands Farm for making it possible. The logistic exercise of staging the event in an open field for the first time, because of its growing popularity, was superbly organised by the Committee and team.”

“By donating £40,000 into the bonus pot, our sponsors have also been integral to this success. They are Swan Housing Association, c2c Rail Ltd, Butyl Products Ltd, Abellio Greater Anglia, Hallmark Care Homes, Barratt Homes, Private Ambulance Service Ltd, IFE Global Logistics, Finmeccanica – Selex ES, Ford Motor Company Ltd, Mr Barrie Stone, and others.”

“Finally, I would like to thank Essex County Council and Police, Temporary Power Solutions, the Private Ambulance Service, Gateway 97.8, Essex & Suffolk Water, Mr Jim Shrub, the Billericay Town Crier, Tesco, Rossi’s Ice Cream and Abi’s Catering for helping to ensure this was a fun day.”
