MP says leaving EU would make Britain better off

Our Brussels bill continues to increase – over the next five years Britain is set to pay another £96.5 billion, or £371 million each week. Despite cuts in the overall EU Budget – in the sense that increases are smaller than they otherwise would have been – between 2016-17 and 2020-21, Britain’s gross payments are set to increase by £1.67 billion. The UK’s average annual payment will be three times the country’s science budget and six times the cost of a Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier.

John said,

“Our financial contributions to the EU continue to rise, leaving less money for increased spending on other areas, such as on the NHS or defence. Leaving the EU would make Britain better off, and allow us to prioritise spending according to our needs – or give households and businesses significant tax cuts.”
