MP says only leaving EU will free SMEs from red tape

Recently released Treasury research shows that EU regulations cost the economy £125.2 billion each year. This is the equivalent of £4,600 per household, or £23,236 per company. The cost of business regulation, especially to SMEs, has long been a concern, but even pro-EU campaigners such as Nick Clegg and the Government have been unable to persuade the EU to change tack. It is currently illegal for Parliament to lessen the burden of EU regulations on our SMEs.

John said,

“Despite only 5% of British companies exporting to the EU, 100% must nevertheless comply with EU regulations. The Treasury research showing the costs to be £23,236 per company reveals how these weigh especially heavily on our small and medium-sized companies, who are less able to shoulder these costs than big multi-nationals.”

“Only by voting to leave the EU will Parliament gain the ability to set our own business regulation, and free SMEs from the onerous burden of unnecessary red tape.”
