John Baron MP: The Twelve Days of the European Union – 9

9 – 9% is the EU average unemployment rate

As we approach the final furlong to the EU referendum, and with the necessary apologies to the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’, John Baron MP is sharing his ‘Twelve Days of the European Union’, setting out why we should vote to leave on 23rd June. Further daily instalments to follow.

The average unemployment rate across the EU is around 9%, against a British unemployment rate of around 5%. Control of our own currency, and a more open economy, has meant the British jobs market continues to expand to record levels of employment. Meanwhile the EU remains mired in uncompetitiveness, red tape and an ongoing Eurozone crisis.

John said,

“The average unemployment rate across the EU is around 9%, against 5% here – in recent years, Yorkshire has created more jobs than France. Control of our own currency, and a more open economy, has helped. The EU remains stuck in the global economic slow lane, and its further bureaucratic integration will add to its woes.”

Quote of the Day:

‘The UK belongs to the EU’
(Martin Schulz MEP, President of the European Parliament, 2014-)
