Last week, John Baron MP presented a Fun Walk bonus cheque to Basildon Disabled Sports and Social Club, Swan Mead Centre, Basildon. John handed a cheque for £247 to Betty Jeffery [Chair]. The club raised £291 through their own sponsorship efforts, but the bonus cheque comes from the ‘bonus pot’ which is created through the generosity of local companies and individuals. The bonuses are distributed on a pro rata basis, depending on and in addition to the monies raised by the charities themselves.

John said:

“My thanks to our generous sponsors – Veolia ES Cleanaway, Swan Housing, Toomey Motors, Terry Peachey, Ken Kent, Barrie Stone, Steve Foster and others – for creating this ‘bonus pot’ of money which all charities have benefited from. This year’s Fun Walk broke all records and raised over £50,000 for many good causes.  ”
