John Baron MP has expressed disappointment that ‘Bread and Buffers’ and National Express appear to be heading towards litigation in order to resolve their differences. John has supported a petition which rightly called for ‘Bread and Buffers’ to be included in the development of the station, and then has facilitated communication between the two in the hope that an amicable solution could be found. Despite compromises on both sides which boded well, legal proceedings are now taking place although these have not yet reached the stage of litigation. However, John has received an assurance from National Express the investment in Billericay station will proceed whatever the outcome of any litigation – such litigation would only delay the investment by a few months.

John said:

“The petition clearly and rightly showed that we wanted to keep ‘Bread and Buffers’ at Billericay station, something which National Express now accepts. We were therefore hoping for an amicable solution but unfortunately this is now looking less likely. The issue is with the lawyers, although it remains everyone’s wish to avoid litigation.”

“Whatever the outcome of any litigation, I have received an assurance from National Express that the funding for the station’s improvement will proceed for the benefit of commuters – something I strongly support.”
