MP says perpetrators must be prosecuted

John Baron MP has today condemned the dumping of household waste on greenbelt land near to the picturesque St Nicholas Church in Laindon, following the recent traveller encampment. John has made contact with Essex Police, Basildon Council and Essex County Council to urge that they do what they can to bring the culprits to justice.

John said:

“It is unacceptable that this site has been left in such a state. I am clear that travellers must respect the law in the same way that the settled community do. I am therefore urging Essex Police and other agencies to do what they can to compile enough evidence to prosecute those responsible.”

“Sadly, flytipping is increasingly becoming a problem, with local authorities and private landowners footing the bill to clear up the devastating mess left behind. I would urge everyone who is thinking of employing someone for renovation works or to take away household waste, to ensure that the correct licences are in place before proceeding – if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.”
