MP encourages people to hold Afternoon Tea during July

At a recent reception at the House of Commons hosted by the chairs of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer, John Baron MP met Breast Cancer Care to support the launch of ‘Afternoon Tea’, the charity’s annual summer fundraising campaign. As part of the campaign, John is encouraging residents to join in to support those affected by breast cancer.

Afternoon Tea encourages people to get together with friends, family or colleagues in July to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. All of the money raised at Afternoon Teas up and down the country will enable charity to continue to provide free care, support and information to those affected by breast cancer.

Samia al Qadhi, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Care, said,

“We are extremely grateful to John for joining us to show his support for Breast Cancer Care’s Afternoon Tea. There has never been a more urgent need for Breast Cancer Care’s vital support services – breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with 1 in 8 women being diagnosed in their lifetime. I hope many local people sign up to host their own Afternoon Tea.”

John said,

“Breast cancer is the UK’s most common cancer, with 62,000 people, both women and men, diagnosed each year. I am therefore pleased to support the Afternoon Tea fundraising campaign, so that Breast Cancer Care can continue to provide its vital support services to those who need them at no cost. I encourage everyone to take part in the fundraiser this summer.”
